Fig Tree Camp – ESA has a riverside camp located 20min outside of Maun in the direction of Moremi Game Reserve. The camp is situated on the banks of the Thamalakane River, under the broad shade of common fig trees. The camp can accommodate 20 people in canvas tents raised off the ground on wooden deck platforms. All tent platforms are within close walking distance of the ablution facilities, where hot, running showers and flushing loos can be a welcome sight after long day in the bush. The camp can be used for short stop-overs on route to filming or research destinations, or for extended periods as a base for long-term research or large filming productions. One of
the main advantages of our permanent camp is the lecture room, where we can
provide facilities for visiting scientists and specialist experts to talk about
their knowledge and experience. The lecture room is powered by regulated generators,
allowing us to run computerised lectures and offer courses on GIS software
and statistical packages often used in modern day ecology. Our kitchen provides all meals, where flexibility remains the strongest flavour. |
