What are Vegetation surveys? – Vegetation surveys cover all field site habitat inventories and remote sensing habitat classification, using these techniques to look at the carrying capacity of the region and to help provide information to conserve the habitat.

Our ServiceESA has a fully mobile, self-sufficient field research team that can assess any private concession of game farm in Botswana or the greater region. We quantify your area initially with remote sensing techniques, determining the size, general landscape features, topography and access, followed by a detailed assessment of the vegetation composition and nutritional quality. We provide you with an easily interpretive, accurate outline of the habitats within your region and an assessment of the nutritional quality and carrying capacity of these different habitats.

We use modern survey techniques that improve the efficiency of surveying vegetation information, collecting data on;

  • Grass / herbaceous / shrub / tree spp. composition, density, height, canopy cover.
  • Grass / herbaceous / shrub / tree spp nutritional quality (N, Ca, P and fibre content).

We provide information on;

  • Carrying capacity
  • Herbivore species suitability
  • Potential for degradation / erosion
